Day 1: The Greco-Roman Jewel of the Mediterranean

Your journey begins as your personal guide meets you at your Cairo hotel. Settle into your private, air-conditioned vehicle for the scenic drive Cairo to Alexandria. Upon arrival, you'll dive straight into a world where Egyptian, Greek, and Roman cultures intertwined. Your first stop is the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages, where you'll descend into the earth to witness a fascinating mix of ancient artistic motifs. Afterwards, gaze up at the colossal Pompey’s Pillar, a towering 27-meter granite column that has stood for centuries as a landmark of the city. After a delicious local lunch, the afternoon is dedicated to two iconic sites: the magnificent Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a modern architectural masterpiece commemorating the lost ancient library, and the Citadel of Qaitbay, a formidable 15th-century defensive fortress built on the exact site of the legendary Pharos Lighthouse. As the day concludes, you will check into your comfortable 4-star hotel for the evening.

Day 2: The Sands of El Alamein

After breakfast, we shift our focus forward in time. The drive to El Alamein takes us to one of the most significant battlefields of World War II. Your guide will bring history to life as you explore the Military Museum, which contains artifacts, tanks, and records from the conflict. The experience becomes deeply poignant as you visit the war cemeteries. You will walk through the serene and beautifully maintained Commonwealth War Cemetery, with its endless rows of headstones, followed by visits to the starkly different but equally moving German and Italian cemeteries. It is a profound moment to reflect on the scale of human sacrifice. After lunch, you will begin the comfortable return journey to Cairo, filled with memories of a unique and multi-layered Egyptian adventure, arriving back at your hotel in the evening.
